To be clear, I mean gothic in the traditional, literary sense of the word – eerie, spooky, atmospheric. Characters who are haunted by ghosts both literal and figurative. (I am NOT looking for the disturbing and graphic "dark" romance that occasionally is lumped in with/mistaken for this type of gothic).
I'd love to find gothic romance, gothic horror, or any combination thereof (although I'dreally love it if there IS a romance element to the story, even if it'snot the main plot). Bonus points for a MMC/love interest who's a champion in brooding.

The Malice Compendium series by Megan Shepherd (gothic fantasy horror).
The Hollow Kind by Andy Davidson (gothic horror)
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
I have not yet read (but am very much looking forward to) One Dark Window and Belladonna.
