A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske
House on the Cerulean Sea by Tj Klune. It’s very light on the romance, much more focus on the relationships with the magical children, but man do I still love them. And the sequel comes out very soon, which I’m sure will have more of the romance based on the ending of the first book.
*Ethan Of Athos*. It is a standalone novel in the Hugo Award (science fiction & fantasy)-winning series *The Vorkosigan Saga*, by Lois McMaster Bujold:
On a planet of all men, a government obstetrician is sent on an interplanetary diplomatic mission when the planet’s literal reproductive system shows signs of failing. Why does a planet of all men need an obstetrician, you ask? That’s the science fiction part! 🙂
You definitely do not have to have read any of the other books in this series to follow this story, though it would add a bit of context. This is more like a science fiction espionage mystery/thriller.
