I’ve started The Housemaid by Frieda Mcfadden and so far I’m not hooked yet. I’m a few chapters into Eileen by Otessa Moshfegh and it’s interesting but not quite addicting yet.
I’m looking for a book that will pull you in fast but is easy to follow and just a wild ride and addicting.
I just finished Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and loved it. But I’m down for something that’s not a classic, just something easy and fast to pass the time. Thanks!

The Rachel Incident by Caroline O’Donaghue
Green Dot by Madeleine Gray
I just finished Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera and it really hooked me. I started and stopped like 6 books before picking it up and definitely got me out of my slump.
{{The Family Upstairs}} and {{None Of This Is True}} by Lisa Jewell. Category: airport thrillers. (You buy them half price at the airport, read them on holiday and abandon them by the pool.)
{{Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine}} . Category: feel-good ending, emotional, neurodivergent MC.
{{Margo’s Got Money Troubles}}. Category: OF.
{{Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice For Murderers}}. Category: feel good, funny, whodunnit.
What I’m basing these recommendations on is the fact that I enjoyed both Yellowface and Rest & Relaxation as easy, light audio books. I’ve also enjoyed everything I recommend as easy, light audio books.
If you liked Yellowface, let me suggest The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz. It’s similar in the fact that it also has a bestselling author who got there by stealing a manuscript, but it’s more of a thriller than Yellowface.
The Talented Miss Farwell by Emily Tedrowe is about a city treasurer who embezzles thousands of dollars over decades in order to live a secret double life as an art collector. This is inspired by the real life story of the Dixon, IL, city comptroller who stole millions of dollars to fund her quarter horse farm.
Cover Story by Susan Rigetti is like what if Anna Delvey worked at a fashion magazine and took an impressionable young writer under her wing.
Tangerine by Christine Mangan is about a young woman in 1956 Tangier who meets up with her former roommate from Bennington. I listened to the audiobook of this and it was very good.
Two in the romance genre that were great audiobooks are Funny Story by Emily Henry and Love at First Book by Jenn McKinlay.
A fantasy I rated at five stars this year was The Children of Gods and Fighting Men by Shauna Lawless.
In the overall feel good fiction category I LOVED The Last List of Mabel Beaumont by Laura Pearson.
Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll is a fictionalized story of the Ted Bundy case told through the perspective of the victims and survivors, and it was also fabulous.
# My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
When Korede’s dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what’s expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This’ll be the third boyfriend Ayoola’s dispatched in, quote, self-defence and the third mess that her lethal little sibling has left Korede to clear away.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles
