A book/series where humanity discovers the ruins of an ancient alien civilisation?

I’ve always been interested in the premise that somewhere in the universe existed life equally as/more intelligent than us, and for whatever mysterious reason they vanished or relocated (potential threats or internal conflict) and there’s only relics of a bygone era left.
