I love a haunted house story and recently read Hell House, Haunting of Hill House, Wylding Hall, and How to Sell a Haunted House. Ive also read The Woman in Black, Turn of the Screw, and The Shining. I’ve loved all of these!

The one that I thought of I think qualifies in the spirit (ha!) if not the letter of the law: [Rebecca](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17899948) by Daphne du Maurier. Spooky, suspenseful, atmospheric. I was hooked from page one.
