A book about supernatural entities and children?

I really like the concept of stories about supernatural entities claiming or I guess "imprinting" on human children (not in a sexual or romantic way). The struggle between the parental figure and the supernatural entity both viewing the child in question as theirs essentially is really interesting to me.

If anyone knows a book that explores something like this or something similar please suggest it to me.
