Suggest me a book about modern culture and society. I feel like I was very plugged into these discussions a few years ago, but now out of the loop.
Books I enjoyed in the past:
* Jia Tolentino. Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion
* Amia Srinivasan, The Right to Sex
* Mark Fisher, Capitalist Realism
* Tanizaki, In Praise of Shadows
* Anything by the author Byung-Chul Han.
Basically these are fairly academic books but for a general audience, that try to dissect our current time and give a greater insight into society, culture and/or technology. They are a bit higher level than the typical airport non-fiction read (So not really into Malcolm Gladwell, or business / self-help).

Christopher Lasch’s books The Culture of Narcissism, The Revolt of the Elites, and The True and Only Heaven still get talked about a lot as reflecting the modern American condition despite their age
I think you mean contemporary culture and society, the Modern historical period ends in 1945.
Anything by Chuck Klosterman. I think his latest is called “X”
The Myth of Normal – Gabor Matè.
David Graeber: Bullshit Jobs
