I was looking through my finished books of 2024 and realized that all of my authors were white. I wanted to change that and picked up Lakewood by Megan Giddings. I thought the premise seemed disturbing and eye opening. The book was disturbing but I was also very disappointed with it.
I was just reading build up and build up and I realized I was 75% done and nothing had happened. Finished the rest of the book and still nothing happened and no questions answered.
I was just waiting for the “beat drop” and nothing really happened. It’s like the author put too much detail in the first 75% of the book and had to rush the last 25% without having a climax or resolution.
