What a book that’s not all S&M but is a GOOD READ with a lesbian main character?? Just want something relatable that’s not all 50 shades and a good read.
I really like “Beyond the Pale” by Elana Dykewomon, it’s about turn of the century Jewish lesbian immigrants who get involved with labor rights. “Riverfinger Women” is about drug smuggling and life.
“Unconquerable Sun” by Kate Elliott re-imagines Alexander the Great as a lesbian in spaaaace.
“The Stars Are Legion” by Kameron Hurley is set in a world that’s all women, where flesh-planets orbit a star as intergenerational space ships.
“Stone Butch Blues” by Leslie Feinberg is touching lesbian classic that’s often mistaken for autobiographical (Feinberg’s transmasc, and is explicit that the protagonist is a lesbian and not a self-insert). It’s about building a life for yourself when people don’t respect you.
“Rubyfruit Jungle” by Rita Mae Brown is a classic, about a woman finding her identity.
“Siren Queen” by Nghi Vo is about a Chinese-American actress in a version of pre-Code Hollywood that resembles a fae court.
“Martha Moody” by Susan Stinson is a sweet, dreamy body-positive lesbian Western.

Anything by Rae D. Magdon! She has a good range of stories from a sci-fi heist that’s a bit more thriller and action focused to a slice of life, modern fantasy romance between a lesbian, poc vampire and nonbinary werewolf.
Majority of her stories have either a lesbian or nonbinary protag.
