Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour book criticized for multiple grammatical errors

This all seems very nit picky to me. First edition books often have errors in them that weren’t picked up before going to print. Sometimes it even makes them more valuable.

The example in the article (having “every night” in two consecutive sentences) isn’t even that bad. A little clunky, but certainly not worth all this fuss.

I’m sure no-one was expecting a literary masterpiece. This really just seems like a lot of drama about nothing.

    2. Even as a fan of her music, her merch has basically always been crap – poorly designed, poorly made, and an endless barrage of fomo one time releases.

So hardly surprising she’s dropped another poorly designed, poorly made fomo release

    3. it’s crazy how people are defending it by calling it “nit picky” like huh…. for that price there shouldn’t be as many flaws as there are

Imagine editing a book about The Eras Tour and thinking, ‘We’ll fix it in the Reputation era.

So? This is obviously a product that is appealing to people who are willing to spend even more money on a wealthy mainstream celebrity. It’s not a product for people who are looking for a well written and well designed coffee table book. I don’t think a better quality book would unlock a new customer group, so why bother?

    6. Grammatical errors? There’s barely any text in the book…

Not going to say it was “false advertising” when my source was social media hype, but everyone was making it sound like there was going to be all this brand new trivia, and it’s just a paragraph from Taylor about each Era next to a bunch of photos everyone has seen before.

I got the book and was very disappointed at the lack of words and new content in the “book”, its basically a picture book. I was hoping for more information on the logistics of the concert and the preparation, choreography, staging, fun facts etc … but I just got pretty pics of tay instead. its a cute looking book so its aesthetic is nice but its just a coffee table picture book at the end of the day. I wouldnt buy it again if I had a do over

    8. I do think it’s very silly that people in this thread are acting like Taylor should have proofread the book herself lmao.

    9. It’s a coffee table book meant to look pretty. It’s not supposed to be read like a novel, so why would it matter if it repeats sentence formats?

    10. This is nothing new. I remember buying programmes from Oasis gigs many years ago, and it was just a shoddily put together thing with black and white pages of interviews and texts stripped from other magazines.

    11. God forbid they spend more than an absolute pittance to pay the people in charge of putting the book together.

Taylor would have personally stood to lose a fraction of a fraction of a percent of her profits. Nobody wants that.

Hot take: She sucks on purpose and her fans are too asleep to even be considered dumb.

    13. This is why you always have to proofread your material before releasing it. Otherwise, it comes off as a first draft, and/or just lazy.

It feels like copy editors don’t exist anymore. I work in the book world, and so many books have passed through my hands with basic spelling and grammatical errors. It’s even worse for online articles, even from reputable sources. We’re collectively going braindead and seem to be fine with it.

    15. Damn it almost feels like it’s the kind of product targeted at the kind of public who would buy it regardless of the level of quality it possesses just because the producers know the buyers will comply!

Swifties out here thinking grammatical errors are unique to their overpriced coffee table book, lol. Get in line, read more, scroll less and you will realize this is common and no big deal.

    17. Has anyone noticed an increase of bad editing in books in general? The past few years I’ve noticed new books have a lot of errors.
