If I loved Eloise at the Plaza as a child, what books should I read as a grown up?

As a child, I remember that I really loved the setting of the plaza (the mid century glitz and glamour) and also loved the mischievous humor. Would love something with a similar atmosphere and humor, but with a good plot/characters that I can get into as an adult.
