I'm a fan of magical girl manga like Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura and Madoka Magica. But currently km in the mood for a novel with a similar theme. Ordinary person gaining magic (or having it already), fighting for their believes and (maybe good) causes. I don't mind the story getting dark, similar to how Madoka Magica started all cutesy and then got real dark real quick.
No need for a romantic (sub)plot, but I don't mind, especially not if it's sapphic.
I've finished "a magical girl retires" but that wasn't really my cup of tea. It was too fast in pacing, not fully fleshed out.
