Hey there! My youngest is turning 15 (obligatory “fuck I’m old”) and has expressed interest in perhaps more fantasy-type books for his birthday. He’s read all the Harry Potter and Rick Riordan books, and has access to the Eragon and LOTR series (meaning, we have them in our own library if he wants to read them).
FWIW I believe the HP books would be too simple writing-style-wise now; he likes more complexity without getting bogged down. Heh, last year his grandmother got him 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and while he got about 2/3 through—much further than I would—suffice it to say Jules Verne wasn’t for him. I don’t know what’s out there that’s good in this genre (I like nonfiction and sci-fi myself) beyond LOTR and Eragon—what do you recommend?
