My brother is really struggling with his mental health right now. He used to love reading, but like a lot of adults, fell out of it. He’s mentioned a few times that reading sounds like it could be a good escape for him. I’d love any and all recommendations — just trying to help him find something to connect to again.
His favorites:
– Any and all JR Tolkien
– Game of Thrones
– The Witcher
– He’s really into sci/fi and fantasy
Triggers:
– Characters with mental illness
– On page death or harm to family member
Suggestions I’m thinking (but open to others!):
+ Brandon Sanderson — I’ve heard good things about his world building, but haven’t read his books.
+ Throne of Glass by SJM — Ultimately, I think he’d enjoy the world, plot, & character development of this, but I don’t think he’d be into the romance storyline line?
Thanks for the help!
