Hello everyone! Mythology has been among my interests since I was little. I did read multiple books on Greek, Celtic, Nordic, Slavic mythology, but I realized recently that the mythology books that interested me the most were those which placed the myths in a broader cultural context. For example, showed how similar myths appear in different cultures, how the Proto-Indo-European culture influenced later societies, how the myths reflected the society of their times…
Collections of tales are great too, but this is not what I am searching for right now. What I am searching for are books that are looking more from a bird's eye view at cultural beliefs, how they form…They can be focused on one angle (e.g. a philosophical one), but they can also be more general.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
