I recently read There Is No Antimemetics Division by “qntm”, a self-published sci-fi book. It was by far the most unique book I’ve ever read; the concepts in the book where so wholly alien to me that I felt like it “broke my brain” so to speak.

I’m looking for more books like that. They can be any genre — just something wholly original and mind-stretching. A nonfiction example is The Beginning of Infinity by David Deutsche, especially its chapter on the “Infinity Hotel”.

    1. *Inverted World* by Christopher Priest. I think I definitely had my brain permanently warped by that one.

    2. Anathem by Neal Stephenson, 16 years ago, yet it still affects how I see causality and decision making. Also how I perceive mortal close calls. I think of it nearly every day. (Of course, I reread it every year.)
