Long time reader here just looking for something new.
Heavily prefer a male MC. Bonus points if he’s flawed or has significant personal struggles. Don’t refrain from sharing female MC books though, I’ll still take a look, just less likely I’ll enjoy it.
Usually, I don’t mind an ensemble cast (following multiplie characters), but right now I’m really looking for a singular experience. I’d like to stick with my MC almost exclusively, if possible.
Genre matters little as I enjoy most. Romance would probably be my least enjoyed, but I don’t mind romance within a story, just not as the story, if that sense. I’m really quite open with this and will read about anything. Historical fiction, alternate history, fantasy, sci-fi, political thrillers, mystery, the list truly goes on.
Because genre is pretty open, time period is as well. Same thing with location. Doesn’t need to be based anywhere specific.
Author doesn’t need to be mainstream or even originally written in English. I don’t mind translations, as most I’ve read have been pretty darn good.
Here’s a few of my favorite books and series to give you an idea of what grips my attention.
1) The Axis Trilogy – Sara Douglass
2) Metro Series – Dmitry Glukhovsky
3) Mitch Rapp Series – Vince Flynn
4) Nightshift – Stephen King (I am the Doorway, Quitters Inc)
5) Dragon Tears – Dean Koontz
Just having a hard time finding a book that speaks to me currently, so I’m hoping you guys have some new ideas!
