Do you have a suggestion on returning to a book that was not finished LONG time ago?
Because, I am 'one of those people ' that starts a book, than start another book without finishing the previous one, than few months later I wonder, well, do I start from the beginning, What it's left or give up?
I DNF’d it because I was distracted (not at all because it isn’t good). It’s a memoir about a prominent Jewish family that lost nearly all of its wealth during WWII (except for its netsuke carvings). It’s been so long, and I was halfway through, but I’ll be giving this a fresh start.

Priory of the orange tree. DNF’d it because I was in a bad reading slump, and had too much going on in my life. It was a pretty good read though, from what I remember of it, though it takes some time for the story to stop being set up and actually start

If I like a book, or think I’ll like it, but I’m not in the mood I’ll go back to it. If I don’t like it or don’t think I will or just have no interest then I won’t. Sometimes I read multiple books at once and I might find I prefer one over the other, and finish that one before going back to the other.
I had a break from reading Anna Karenina. I stopped because wasn’t in the mood for it and it’s long. I went back to it (where I left off) after a few weeks (or more I can’t remember) and loved it. It’s a great book but it’s not the easiest to read.

I say it depends on how far through you are, and also how much you can remember of it from a few months ago. I generally don’t restart books if I’m picking them up again, but that’s because I tend to DNF at about 20% and haven’t really missed much. If I DNF it at a point where I need to refresh myself on the actual plot in order for any of it to make sense going forwards, I restart it.
