My best friend is an avid reader and I'm looking for book recs, as someone who is not a big reader, to get her for Christmas. I asked for her specific taste and she said she likes Holocaust, psychological thriller, murder, and true crime. Her favorite book is the Silent Patient. What are some other good books that fit into this style?

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah if she hasn’t read it.
Since she likes true crime, I’d suggest *I’ll Be Gone in the Dark* by Michelle McNamara. The author, who sadly passed away two years before the publication of the book, researched obsessively into the crimes of the Golden State killer. The killer was arrested two months after the book’s publication (unrelated to its contents). This is nonfiction.
Re: fiction, she might like *11/22/63* by Stephen King. One of his best novels ever, about time travel and the assassination of JFK. Thrilling, historical. Not the Holocaust, but dark and interesting.
*Mr Mercedes* is a physiological thriller/murder mystery also by Stephen King. Also dark and at times uncomfortable due to one of the points of view being the killer’s.
ETA: had another thought. If she hasn’t read *The Book Thief*, she might enjoy that. It’s set in Nazi Germany during WW2.
The People Who Eat Darkness by Richard Lloyd Parry is a great true crime book about the abduction of a British woman in Tokyo
