Seaching for a book with character development from arrogant, immatur, irresponsible, restless to character developing to mature, wise, patience, responsible.
Going from arrogant to wise
from knowing nothing(thinking that he know way more but not realised he knows nothing) to knowing a lot but now thinking there is so much to learn.
My request seems to specific but I think everyone get it.
Would love if it's classic.

Captains Courageous by Rudyard Kipling. Very different from the Oscar winning film. He is a smart mouthed spoiled teen. After recently reading it, I think he may be the prototype Holden Caulfield.
Look into the Epic of Gilgamesh. It’s an ancient Sumerian poem written somewhere between 2000-1000 BCE. I’d basically say Gilgamesh is a tyrant who is arrogant. Eventually he learns the meaning of mortality and death, and therefore transforms. It is a poem not a novel though.
They somewhat recently found new tablets adding to the story so if you do take interest in reading it, look for the newest available edition.
It’s very old so it won’t read with the same flare more modern works have, if that’s what you’re looking for. But I think it fits what you’re looking for. Plus as far as I understand it served as an influence for Homer, which is pretty cool.
