I’m in a small book club that only has men. I’m the one progressive in the club and those guys only pick male authors. I don’t think they realize that they’re doing it but I’m making them read female authors, and female authors of color. We recently read Mariana Enriquez’s “Things We Lost In the Fire”. Emma Cline’s “The Guest” will be next. I’m also thinking of having them read “A Visit From the Goon Squad”. I’m looking for some recommendations of books that will not be heavy handed but will gently get them to start broadening their horizons.
