Book about love that got away or lost love

I was hoping to find a non fiction book about loves that got away and loves that didn’t last for whatever reason, or how two people who for all intents and purposes should have ended up together, but couldn’t; what it means, maybe what it means across different cultures and more of an analysis about it all.
