I’m really into Otessa Moshfeg, Sally Rooney, Joan Didion. I’m finishing up A Little Life, I’ve read My Dark Vanessa and Pattern Recognition this month.

Can you suggest me some sad girl books/kinda cyberpunk sci-fi. I bounce between both.

    Thanks!

    1. Maybe check out some Wally lamb, Jess lourey (horror) and Mona awad novels? That’s who came to mind based on your sad girl suggestions.
Disappearing earth by Julia Phillips too.
Good luck on your goal! If you’re in the habit of reading daily it should be pretty easy!

Jane eyre, everyone in this room will some day be dead, cleopatra and frankenstein, the secret history, tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, THE BELL JAR, the virgin suicides, the perks of being a wallflower (sm better than the movie), milk teeth, the vegetarian.

All of these books feature women who are sad or unsympathetic or pathetic in some meaningful way:

*The New Me* by Halle Butler

*Convenience Store Woman* by Sayaka Murata (this one is kind of opposite- everyone assumes she should be sad when she isn’t).

      *The Awakening* by Kate Chopin

*Black Sheep* by Rachel Harrison (also *Cackle*)

      *The Guest* by Emma Cline

*The Old Woman with the Knife* by Gu Byeong-mo

      *Animal* Lisa Taddeo
