I know this has been asked a lot and I have been reading through old threads, but I'm hoping someone can recommend me something similar to Westerfeld's Leviathan series, but better.
What I liked:
- World-building!
- Historical fiction and political intrigue (although it lacked focus at times and was clearly written for kids)
- Romance that was not at the forefront of the story
What I didn't like:
- Side characters were not well-developed enough. The main 2 heroes in the story were great at first and really grew on to me, but they were awfully childish at times for the sake of drama (I know it's YA, but I believe it still could have been better).
- The quality of the story really dipped towards the end and lacked focus; there were also a lot of loose ends or unexplored plot points that were just dropped.
It is my first time reading a novel in quite a long time. I'm hoping to get back to the hobby and maybe explore adult fiction as well. Thank you!
