I loved "I Who Have Never Known Men," and have been chasing that high ever since. "It Lasts Forever and then Its Over" is similar, but description-wise I can't really put my finger on it other than "existential" and "literary" and "apocalyptic" setting. Book suggestions that'll make me stay up all night reading then wandering around during the day still lingering on what the heck I just read.

A Million Tomorrows by Kris Middaugh. It’s a romance with grounded sci-fi.
The question at the heart of the story is: what would you sacrifice for a chance to do it all over again?
There’s a big focus on the nature of consciousness. Hopefully that’s existential enough for you!
