Im looking for some really compelling and well written short stories of any genre! Been book hopping a lot and wanting to read a bunch of different things all at once but then I never finish anything, so some shorter works might be exactly what I need

What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver.
Welcome to the Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut.
Those are my two favorites.
I really enjoyed Jewel Box by E Lily Yu, which has a variety of genres.
One of my favorite anthologies is Tripping the Tale Fantastic edited by Christopher Jon Heuer. Also a variety of genres.
Love short stories!
Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century by Kim Fu is a really compelling collection.
Your Utopia by Bora Chung too!
*Dead End Memories* by Banana Yoshimoto
The Collected Stories by William Trevor
Stories of Your Life and Exhalation, both by Ted Chiang
Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
Hao by Ye Chun
Sabrina and Corina by Kali Fajardo Anstine
Best Short Stories of 2021 ed. Jesmyn Ward
She Wears the Midnight Crown edited by Nina Waters
The elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakami. Stories not as short as you might expect but slow burn as you might not expect.
Games and Rituals by Katherine Heiny was one I picked up at a used bookstore just based on the cover and I unexpectedly loved it. Another favorite is Five Tuesdays In Winter by Lily King.
Labyrinths by Jorge Luis Borges
Tenth of December by George Saunders
Pretty much any Flannery O’Connor you can get your hands on is worth the read.
