I m not an avid reader and I've completely hated reading since I was born . But I want to improve my reading skills because I am preparing for IELTS test and I feel my reading stuck at 6-6.5 but in reality I want at least 8 band score . My teacher and everyone else keep recommending me to read extensively but I just can't do that . I am not cut out for being a reader I guess .
With that being said , Can someone recommend me a good book . IT MUST BE INTERESTING. I m into more detective and suspense stuff especially psychological thriller where characters constantly play some kind of mind games with each other and manipulation and strategic battles type shi . I would love to receive a good book recommendations that can change my perspective on reading .

    1. The only thriller/mystery/suspense type book that I read last year was The Guest List by Lucy Foley. Well, *technically*, I listened to the audiobook on Hoopla, which had a whole cast of voice actors for each character but to-may-toe, to-mah-toe lol. The story revolves around a group of old highschool/college friends that all meet up after years apart for a wedding on a secluded island. The night of the rehersal dinner *dun-dun-dunnnnnnn*, tragic strikes the party! But who is guilty of such a heinous crime??????

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides might also fit for you? It was suggested to me as a horror, but it’s got that mystery factor.

      Other books that ARENT mystery/thriller:

      Hyperion by Dan Simmons (👽😭🤯)

Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry (😭🤠😭)

      Tender is the Flesh (🤤🍽🤢)

It’s a super interesting and very well written. It’s mystery detective genre. My sister isn’t an avid book reader either but she was able to read it pretty quickly and enjoy it.
