Mysteries/Thrillers one step up from Michael Connelly, Lee Child, etc.

After a long reading slump, I read a few Michael Connelly and Lee Child books. They are great fun and served their purpose of rekindling my love of reading. Now I'm looking for something a little bit more substantive and with a bit more literary merit. Just one step up from Connelly and Child.

For reference, another book I read the The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow and I really enjoyed that. That's along the lines of what I'm looking for.
