I just finished Convenience Store Woman and looking for recommendations on what to read nexr. I am open to both fiction and non fiction. I have no clue what I want to read so a bit of background-
I am 30F, haven't been into a reading habit after a little phase of romcoms in my teenage. I just went through a breakup and also moved on with my family to take care of my dad's health with whom I don't have a great relationship with. So it's been a tough time since end of 2024. I keep myself engaged in cooking, I am learning driving and hoping to read more books. Please suggest something that you think is fitting for my situation or anything random that you found interesting would work too. Thanks 🙂

Maybe try ***The Housekeeper and the Professor,*** by Yoko Ogawa. It’s very good, and based on what you’ve said it might resonate with you.
You might like The Kamogawa Food Detectives, it is another Japanese novel, fairly short, and involves cooking. It is about a father and daughter who own a restaurant and also act as “detectives” who search for old nostalgic recipes and try their best to recreate it for the customer. It is more of a cosy read than an exciting fast-paced plot but I really enjoyed it and it made me crave Japanese food 🙂
