I’m an experienced reader but with work and motherhood, it’s been a while. Looking for something to spark that fire in me again! Any genre is okay. I love romance, fantasy, science fiction, feminism, finding one’s self.. Doesn’t necessarily have to be “spicy” but don’t mind that as well. Just really looking for something that is an easy, addictive read that will pull me back into the life of reading!! Thanks in advance.

Read The Kite Runner, then read, A Thousand Splendid Suns – they are wonderful books with beautiful stories. *I cried for both lol
A few years ago the book that pulled me back in was **The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.** Her other books haven’t grabbed me in as much, but there’s something about this one.
Bunny by Mona Awad
Ilona Andrews Innkeeper Chronicles –A magic Inn, space werewolves and vampires, a lot of really unique aliens, mystery, romance, action, a fun and humorous series
If you want something light and fun to start, pick up any Emily Henry book.
Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
Small Miracles by Olivia Atwater
Last Call at the Local by Sarah Grunder Ruiz
With Love, From Cold World by Alicia Thompson
A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams
Well Met by Jen DeLuca
The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso
The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
The Midnight Bargain by CL Polk
A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
Some stand alones that always help me when I’m easing back into reading – all have sad starts and happy endings
The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery – 100 year old romance lit that resonates with anyone who’s felt stuck in life
The Summer of My Amazing Luck by Miriam Toewes – a young mom ends up in social housing surrounded by quirky people
The Beauty of Humanity Movement by Camilla Gibb – an elderly survivor of the purges in Vietnam reflects on his life and his chosen family
My current favourite series:
All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriott – first of four, memoirs of a somewhat bumbling country vet in the 30s. I still laugh out loud reading it and it’s been in my rotation for 35 years
Crystal Singer Trilogy by Anne McCaffrey – sci-fi, a confident and somewhat bitchy woman becomes a member of an elite guild who use perfect pitch to mine the most valuable substance in the galaxy – romance and adventure and space ships
The Uninteresting and Completely Unadventurous Tales of Fred the Vampire Accountant by Drew Hayes – a timid accountant becomes a vampire and, while finding love and friends and meeting fantastical creatures, he never stops loving being an accountant. Great series, worth reading just for the vampire in a sweater vest
A River Enchanted and A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross is a beautiful duology that hits a lot of your loves, but swap science fiction with folklore lol. I don’t think those books get nearly enough attention 🥹
I couldn’t put down the a song of ice and fire (game of thrones) series
Janét Evanovich comedic mysteries — they all have numbers in the titles
Sue Grafton mysteries — all have letters in the title
Both are series w many titles and feature female main characters
