books told from the POV of minor characters

i am wondering if the are books told in a similar manor to Star Trek TNG Season 7 Episode 15 Lower Decks

where the major players are out of view of the "little" people most or all the time as the story progresses and they have little if any effect on the overall story. the episode has stuck with me for so long as an interesting way to do the story, having to piece the plot together from the POV of the minor characters as they interact with the big players and each other.
