Books like The Name of the Rose or The Bone Collector, Sphere, Red Dragon or A Haunting of Hill House.
(I like the 90's movies too, but I'm referring to the books)

I really like classics á la Dracula, Anne Karenina or Sherlock Holmes, but something modern.

Let me give you an example: Dracula, a classic. In the 70's, Matheson wrote I'm Legend. Then in 2009 Guillermo Del Toro wrote The Strain.
Those two are the modern versions of a classic, that I'm talking about.

    1. Not sure how to understand your title. Are you looking for rewrites? The books you stated suggest otherwise.

Maybe it’s just bad phrasing. There are no “modern versions of classics”. There are, however, modern classics: The Great Gatsby, 1984, Animal Farm, Atonement, The Bell Jar,…. There are so many, really. 🙂

    2. Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. Inspired by Charles Dickens novel, David Copperfield.
