I'm writing a proposal on stories written in a nonlinear format and without going into monotonous detail, I'd like to hear other people's favorite examples of modular storytelling. This isn't limited to novels, short stories are also great! I'd especially like books that can't effectively be delivered on an eReader (House of Leaves, The Unfortunates, etc).

What are you favorites? I'd love to hear what you like about them.

      Nonlinear, tactile, mind-bending:

House of Leaves, The Unfortunates, S.
The format is the story. You can’t get this on a tablet, and that’s the magic!

“Telephone Tales”, by Gianni Rodari. A hardcover English translation was released maybe 4-5 years ago. It had delightful illustrations, but also movable section, including pop-ups. Maybe this is too simple and not quite what you had in mind, but the book is a delight to read.

    3. Alice in Wonderland has some wonky print things in it that can’t really be put in ereader format.
