Hello!
I am an art student and my junior thesis project is to create a series of illustrations to accompany a book. It has to be something relatively unknown that hasn't been adapted into a movie or been illustrated before. I am interested in doing children's book illustration, but seeing as it's impossible to find a published children's story that isn't illustrated already, I thought I would look towards middle-grade/early reader stories to work off of. I want to make something whimsical and fun that also has a good moral message. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations of books for young readers with no (or very few) illustrations. Thank you!

Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan
Bridge to Terabithia has a movie adaptation but there isn’t an illustrated edition of the book. A Game of Fox and Squirrels by Jenn Reese has a similar real world/imaginary world combo that could lead to some really interesting illustrations.
The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science by Kate McKinnon
The frog princess by E.D. Baker or Wings by E.D. Baker
The rangers apprentice doesn’t have a show or movie.
The candy shop wars by Brandon mull has magic. No movie. He also wrote the fablehaven series- magical creatures.
The imaginary veterinary series has sporadic pictures-maybe every chapter. The first book is about sasquatch.
