I am interested in books on atheism.

I would like something accessible (so not hundreds of pages of philosophy, nothing like Michael Martin's Atheism – a philosophical justification, nor like Oppy's Arguing about Gods).

But neither am I interested in angry rants with the stereotypical attitude of "theists are all stupid, and we are smarter".

So no Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, A.C. Grayling, Victor Stenger, Armin Navabi, Greta Christina, etc. I have read most of those, anyway.

The books I have identified so far are:

    • Julian Baggini: Atheism – a very short introduction (Oxfod University Press)
    • Akin, Talisse: Reasonable Atheism
    • Julia Sweeney: Letting go of God
    • Dan Barker: Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists

    Any other suggestions?

    1. It’s not exactly about atheism, but I would highly recommend “The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark” by Carl Sagan.

I’m enjoying Salman Rushdie, lately. His books aren’t about atheism, often the opposite, but I think his views saturate and inform his work.

This is THE book you are looking for: MINDS MAKE SOCIETIES by Pascal Boyer.

His point,  evolution informs human behavior, societies and minds aren’t studied like they should be as part of science… I’m not doing it justice. I read it repeatedly, and I hate rereading books.
