Hi! So I really tried to give romantasy a shot because my friend basically made me lol. I love fantasy, so I thought I'd give it a shot. What I found after reading several series by different authors is that 1) the writing is not the greatest 2) the plot feels like a filler I between the "spicy " moments that aren't spicy at all 3) I'm into men as well as women but this shit is so boring and clearly meant for straight women who probably haven't experienced much of good spicy sex 4) I want to read something that's girl on girl action but without all the "I'm so skinny and fragile so I fall in love with a big dangerous man and now I'm a superhero "

Sorry about the rant but I'd love to get suggestions for a book with a good plot and some lesbian (or bi) protagonists that aren't annoying .
I like fantasy, crime, thrillers , horror . Honestly I like a lot of different genres as long as it's not just pure romance. Also please don't suggest YA novels. Preferably characters over 25 but 20+ will do.
Thank you 💖 and sorry for the venting lol

    1. I liked Slow River by Nichola Griffith, a crime/cyberpunk novel. I don’t think it was especially spicy, but I read it at least twenty years ago.

    2. I recommend Laurie J. Marks’ Elemental Logic series. It’s an older series of four books and delves into some serious themes, but the relationships are lovely. I wouldn’t really call it spicy though.
