I'm looking for fairly recent books (the last decade or so?) in Spanish to give my mom for Christmas (she's a native speaker). They would need to be available in the US and currently in print so I can order them from either from my local indie bookstore or online. Translations into Spanish are good.

My mom loves memoirs and autobiographies or fiction that tell the stories of people's lives. She's really enjoyed the books by Reyna Grande I got her, Ruiz Zafón's Cementerio de los Libros Olvidados series, Solito by Javier Zamora, and loved the translations of Khaled Hosseini. She's also read Perez-Reverte, Isabel Allende (she has mixed feelings about her), translations of Where the Crawdads Sing (didn't like that one as much either), and Jeanette Wall, and has enjoyed books about wartime Europe and Spain and the brave things people did then, as well as immigrant stories.

I'm certain she would not enjoy Ken Follett's books and doesn't care for fantasy, science fiction, or magical realism.

Any suggestions you all have that might pique her interest?

    Thanks for the help!
