Recommendations for a non reader

My husband and I have set ourselves a New Year’s resolution to read more but he’s never been much of a reader and I’m hoping to get him a book to get him into reading but I don’t know how to go about it. He likes watching a lot of true crime and period dramas; he’s also really into football. I’m wondering if anybody has recommendations of anything (preferably fiction) that might align with any of these non-reading likes? Thanks!
