i’m a freshman in high school and for my english class i need to pick an independent reading book.
i grew up with a really strict family and so i don’t think i’ve ever really picked out a book for myself and also i haven’t read like 99% of what most people my age have so i guess i just have no clue where to start.
so far for this class i read to kill a mockingbird which i liked but i think would’ve been really confusing if i wasn’t reading it with the class and the odyssey which i didn’t really like, if that helps you guys give me a recommendation.

Shane. It’s a short book. Better than the movie.

THE LAST UNICORN is really, really good. readable, emotionally evocative, great descriptions of things, occasional rule breaking that makes for interesting discussion, relatively short. delightful and substantive
