So over the past few years I've been doing longer reading series with my kids. We've only done two so far, Bone and we're finishing the Earthsea series. What are some other good series we can jump into?
I'm not wanting to do LoTR just yet and I'm steering clear of J.K. Rowling. Also nothing too crazy long like Redwall, as fun as those are. I want to finish before my eight year old leaves for college haha. One contender I have is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but I'd love other suggestions! Thanks 🙂

What about Series of Unfortunate Events?
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs depending on their like/dislike of mystery/spooky things
Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne
Artemis Fowl!
His Dark Materials. Anything Tamora Pierce, I love the Alana books.
Alex rider series
Fablehaven was very popular with my kids
The Underlander Chronicles by Suzanne Collins is the best. It’s five books but they aren’t incredibly long.
Percy Jackson series
Warrior Cats series
Wings of Fire series
I think eight is a bit young for HHGG – I tried listening to the original radio series (much better than the books) with my ten-year-old, and he really didn’t get most of it. My recommendation would be the Tiffany Aching series by Terry Pratchett. Also he’s just devoured the Ben Archer series by Rae Knightly – I’ve never known him read so much in so short a time, not even when he was working his way through Beast Quest!
Little House on the Prairie – amazing for details of homesteading and greatly loved at my school
[Nevermoor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6a6d5ca1-b2f5-47be-828c-018144d3bbc7) by Jessica Townsend! It’s my favorite series even as an adult and several parents on here have mentioned loving reading it with their kids.
Percy Jackson series?
The Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan. A young man is trained as an apprentice in the elite ranger corps.
