I've read a number of books by investigative journalists where each chapter is a different story in an over-arching topic and have really enjoyed them. Is there a math book that fits this category?.
Some books I have thoroughly enjoyed in the same format:
- Mary Roach
- The Big Thirst
- The Revolution Will Not Be Funded
- Fire Season
- Maphead
- Zoobiquity
- Salt Sugar Fat
- Trash Animals
- The Genius of Birds
- The Divided City
- Grocery Story
- The Bird Friendly City
- Twelve Ways to Save Democracy in Wisconsin
- Freakonomics

**Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World** by Matt Parker. An entertaining look at math incorrectly applied in real-life.
Not math, rather physics. **The God Equation** (unfortunate title aside) by Michio Kaku shows the progression of equations over the centuries that sought to model the universe.
He keeps it interesting by providing anecdotes about the scientists.
