I've been an avid cdrama watcher the last 9 months or so and I'm loving the cultural aspects of them, especially the historical setting and the cultivation themes.
I tried reading some webnovels but I cringe at the quality of writing and storytelling.
Is there seriously nothing better out there? Books by actual professional authors? Please help 🙏

I also am a historical cdrama watcher and too have been disappointed by the quality of many of the translated light novels. Here’s a few fantasy books that were pretty good at depicting historical China:
The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
The Empress of Salt and Fortune by Nghi Vo (this one isn’t explicitly set in historical China but is heavily inspired)
Read Mo Yan’s novel *Frog.* It’s a 10 out of 10!
I don’t know anything about cdramas but Lady Tan’s Circle of Women by Lisa See is historical fiction set in 15th century China
