I recently read the Richard Feynman books, Surely you're joking and What do you care what other people think.
I really enjoyed the way he talked about the scientific discoveries made during his time and that it didn't feel like a lecture. Not a fan of Neil deGrass Tyson.
Any other science books that don't feel like being lectured at?

Carlos Rovelli is great. Seven Lessons on Physics
“The God Particle If the Universe Is the Answer, What Is the Question?” – .Leon M. Lederman
The Human Cosmos by Jo Marchant bridges scientific discovery with anthropology, but I found it very readable.
The secret life of trees by Peter Wohlleben if you are open to the sciences of biology and ecology is a very nice read. It covers how trees communicate and work together using and quoting scientific studies and papers.
*The Making of the Atomic Bomb* by Richard Rhodes.
*Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time* by Dava Sobel.
