First time posting here, I'm about to go on a long trip and I am in dire need of a book to read along the way.
I would like the have some recommendations for books where the world got turned upside down after an event, which makes life miserable or a hardship. The only book that I've read that sounds like this is "World war Z", which was an amazing read.
Of course, do tell me if you have any suggestions for any other great sci-fi books, or even horror. I'd like to broaden my horizons !

I think a search term that might help you is “post apocalyptic” fiction! You might like Lucifer’s Hammer or The Stand. The Fifth Season is incredible. Station Eleven is a little familiar to recent years’ events. A canticle for Leibowitz is an all time favourite of mine.
