Hi its my first time on this reddit and its an honor so what i want to ask is this novel worth reading? I mean i heard its 1200 pages and i dont really wanna waste my time for something unworthy

You have to read it yourself to decide if it was worth it or not lol. It’s a book that people on TikTok yap about to seem smart but it doesn’t hold up that well for me in the last half. Not as amazing as people say but it’s good nonetheless. There’s way better classics out there imo

It is a beloved classic novel which people have been reading and enjoying for nearly 200 years. No, you won’t be wasting your time, even if you don’t find every single page enthralling.

I DNFed it half way through. The middle 500 pages are such a slog, I just could not force myself to continue. Maybe I’ll pick it up again one day but I have a million other books on my shelf I’d like to get to.

I loved this book after waiting years to read it after a scene in Shawshank Redemption mentioned it. I’ve read several Dumas novels since then and I noticed that the various translations are quite different with some being more enjoyable.

I found the first 3rd of the book entertaining, but after that the story became slow. I forced myself to finish the book because it looks to have a good reputation, but I don’t think the end really pays out.

Honestly read it so many times myself, read aloud with partner once. Its been made into so many movies, tv, audiobooks. Will probably read it all over again some day.
Definitely worth it.
