I want to buy a book for Christmas for my best friend's father. He is conservative but not a Trump supporter, more of a Reagan era Republican. He is a lawyer so a more recently released book would probably be helpful. I bought him American Covenant: How the Constitution Unified Our Nation―and Could Again last year and he really liked it. Any suggestions?

Original Sin by Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper. It is about the Biden cover up, him running again, and in a sense, what led to where things are now in the US.
While I’ve not read it, Max Boot wrote a book about Reagan that I’ve heard terrific things about.
Ross Douthat, The Decadent Society (2020). I haven’t read this, but he makes actual arguments in his New York Times pieces.
