Hello all, I was invited to a friend of a friend's birthday party this weekend and want to bring a small gift! I don't know her well but have met several times, and am told that she likes "a good steamy romance novel" — but I guess it would have to be something that isn't so popular that she may have read it already. 😳

Bonus points if it's set on a beach or has a travel or cooking element, but not hard requirements by any means. This is not my go-to genre, so any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you! 💋

    1. Maybe The Pairing by Casey McQuiston! Travel and food, and one of the only romances I’ve enjoyed in a few years

Join us at /romancebooks and have suggestions pour in! Off the top of my head, a beach locale could be The Wrong Mr. Right by Stephanie Archer- the male love interest is a surfer and it takes place in a beach town. Or another one would be Bridesmaid for Hire by Meghan Quinn, takes place in Fiji.

For cooking, right now I’m reading The Game Changer by Lana Ferguson- she is the star of a baking show, he’s a professional hockey player, there’s lots of talk of French patisserie. This is a more well known author but this book is less well known. Her more well known book, the MMC is a chef- that one is called The Nanny.

It’s hard to say what level of reader your friend is and if she will have read these, but they aren’t popular enough to be stocked at most Barnes and Noble so you may be okay.

    3. Time Loops & Meet Cutes has a lot of food in it although not as much cooking. Not beachy. I thought it was steamy (although I don’t read scads of romance novels but it’s open door and certainly spicy) and obscure enough to be a hidden gem.
