Crime and Punishment. My brother-in-law read it and said it was amazing. Difficult read at times, as is often the case with his characters, their names can change throughout.
Crime and Punishment is definitely the easier place to start if you aren’t used to old Russian novels. It also is still amazing. If you get through that and liked it, try Brothers Karamazov. It is my favorite by him, but it’s not an easy read at times.
The Devils or Crime and Punishment
The Brothers Karamazov is my favourite
Notes from the Underground. It’s not one of those that everyone reads, but it’s unique and strange and I think aligns with the books you listed in your comment.
On the plus side, it’s much shorter than the others that you’ll be recommended, so if it’s not your jam you won’t have sacrificed much time.
The Crocodile, it doesn’t get better than that
