As a son of Mexico who is embarrasingly undereducated about this period of time of the country's history, what are some books that I could read to learn more about what happened politically and culturally between late 1910 and 1929?
I just finished reading Bad Mexicans by Kelly Lyttle Hernandez which detailed the activities of Ricardo Flores Magon and his followers during the 1900s and set the stage nicely for the period I mentioned above. I already have the books noted below sitting on the bookshelf but interested to know if anyone has any good/additional recommendations. Thanks everybody. Keep bookin'!
The Underdogs by Mariano Azuela
Los Origenes del Zapatismo by Felipe Arturo Avila Espinoza
Mexico Tierra de Volcanes by Joseph HL Schlarman

I don’t have any suggestions, but would you be able to recommend something for a beginner in Mexican history? I don’t read Spanish well though
I don’t have a nonfiction recommendation, but El llano en llamas by Juan Rulfo is probably the most well-known treatment of the revolutionary and post-revolutionary period in fiction.
