I love learning about mythology from around the world, but I have the most fun learning about it through its use in stories! (and video games)

The stories don't need to be 100% accurate to the myth or folk tales, but enough to acquaint myself with the idea so I can deep dove into more. Does that make sense?

For instance, I just finished the Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller. There are a lot of discrepancies from the actual Myths, but I enjoy just being placed in that world and researching more about origins and characters.

    Some books I've enjoyed include:

The Song of Achilles – Madeline Miller
    Circe – Madeline Miller
    Slewfoot – Brom
Between Two Fires – Christopher Buelham
Norse Mythology – Neil Gaiman (ew, I know, I read it a few years ago)
The Only Good Indians – Stephen Graham Jones
Thistle foot – Genna Rose Nethercot
Never Whistle at Night – anthology

Some of these are maybe just more folk horror than based in any one specific folk tale, and I'm happy to read more of that as well.

I would love to get into more stories from more cultures as well, but I'm certainly not opposed to more of the same.

I don't generally like romance (though I enjoyed the song of Achilles and feel like it is mostly a romance) but I don't mind if there is romance in the story.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would recommend The percy jackson (not accurate description of greek gods) series as they are fun and well written

I enjoyed Mythos by Stephen Fry. He actually has four books in this series. I know there’s some controversy around him these days; if I’m not mistaken, he’s sided with Rowling on her views. Still, if you’ve read Gaiman, you’re probably able to separate the art from the artist.
